UNIFIED
UNDERGROUND 2008 is less than six months away, and we
are so excited for what God will do at this year's
conference! We hope that we will also see many of you at
Cornerstone Festival in Illinois at the
beginning of July, where we will be hosting a Unified
Underground Day with the help of our friends at the
Fat Calf Stage (see below for more details).
We at Hope For The Rejected have been staying
busy over the past several weeks, and I want to begin this
correspondence by sharing with all of you a bit about what we've
been doing.
IMPACT 2008
Metro Maryland Youth For Christ, our parent
organization, puts on two annual conferences—Impact
and Alive—here in Maryland, both of which
attract three to four thousand youth. Loyal,
Mollie, D'Anyil, Jordan, Aimee, Scott, Andrea and Sarah all
attended this year, along with 3,400 high school students and
hundreds of parents and youth leaders. Over 200 kids came
forward Saturday night to accept Jesus Christ as their Lord and
Savior! Earlier that morning, a girl approached one of Friday
night's speakers and handed him a small box. She said only that
she had been planning on using what was in the box that weekend,
but had decided against it after Friday night's session. He
opened the box to discover that it was full of razor blades; she
had planned on using them to commit suicide.
FACEDOWN FEST 2008
While the rest of the team was at Impact, I
flew out to Los Angeles for Facedown Fest.
This two-night fest showcased almost every band on the
Facedown Records roster, including the newest addition
to the Facedown
family,
Arkansas' Take It Back! I also had the chance
to take the stage the second night and share a little bit about
Unified Underground and our ministry, and
deliver some words of encouragement that God had laid on my
heart. There were too many standout performances to even try to
pick one, but let me just say that—even though this
year's Fest marked the end of hardcore heavyweights Seventh
Star—I am extremely excited about the young talent
that Facedown is signing, and what the label and the bands are
doing for Christ's cause!

ROOT BEER KEGGER: JUNE 1ST!
Our
4th Annual Root Beer Kegger will be held in
Annapolis, MD on Sunday, June 1! This is always an enjoyable
event, and this year we are trying something a little different
by combining the party with a show. Our friends in
Ruiner will be joined by touring bands American
Me and Long Island, N.Y.'s Stray from the Path,
along with three local openers. If you're going to be anywhere
near Maryland that day, swing by and check it out!
UNIFIED UNDERGROUND DAY @ CORNERSTONE: JULY 5TH
We are extremely excited to be working with Dan Bawinkel
and Fat Calf Productions to present
Unified Underground Day at the Fat Calf Stage
at Cornerstone Festival 2008 on Saturday, July
5. We're still in the process of lining up all of our bands and
speakers, but we can promise you that it will be amazing. Just
think of it as a miniature Unified Underground
(with more dust, of course).
SUPPORT US!
We need your prayer! Please pray daily for our ministry,
all of the bands who are on the road acting as missionaries, and
for all of the underground cultures that we are trying to
reach. We can't do a thing without the intercession of Jesus
Christ, and the intervention of the Holy Spirit.
We understand that times are tough for everyone, but I'd also
like to ask that you prayerfully consider making a gift of
financial support. We have a lot of expenses to cover for our
major events coming up this year (the Root Beer Kegger,
Cornerstone, Unified Underground,
and Christmas for Misfits). We are especially
looking for people (or groups) who would be willing to donate
$50 to sponsor a band on Unified Underground Day
at Cornerstone ($50 will cover the costs
involved in having them play). Please consider either making a
one-time tax-deductible donation through
PayPal by
clicking here, or contacting us to learn how
you can become a monthly supporter. If the link above doesn't
work, or if you'd rather mail a check or use a different method
of payment, you can also
visit our website for more options.
We thank you for being a part of this movement and are more
appreciative than we can ever say of the efforts of each of you.
As always, please feel free to contact Loyal, me (Lucas), or any
other member of our ministry staff if there's anything we might
be able to do for you. Please know that all of you are in our
prayers; contact us and let us know what we need to be praying
for specifically!
